Vintage MA1 Jacket, Flyers Man Intermediate - MIL-J-827901 (USAF)

The MA-1 Jacket bears its roots back to the 1950’s and the introduction of the jet-age made new requirements for the aviators and pilots. The jets could fly at higher altitudes and the cockpits changed. The jacket was designed by the United States Airforce and the high-quality nylon, and the polyester interlinings made it light warm and comfortable to wear.

In 1963 Alpha Industries won the contract to manufacture the MA-1. The jacket has remained more or less the same over time. Only smaller alternations have taken place. The final version before being phased out by the US Military was in the late 80’s beginning of 90’s. 

The item we are featuring is made by Alpha Industries and is in the right sage green and has the emergency orange inside. Series number: MIL-J-827901J (USAF)
